Transplanting Clones
When a clone is purchased from a dispensary it usually comes in a little red party cup which is not of adequate size to successfully grow a marijuana plant in for either the vegetation or the flowering stage. So what this means is that you will have to transplant the clone into a larger pot to prevent it from becoming root bound and so that it can grow to its potential size. In order to this you will need the pot that you intend on placing the clone into ready and it will need to be filled the majority of the way with soil. Before you take the clone out of its original container you will also need to dig a decently sized hole in the middle of the larger pot so that the roots and a few inches of the bottom portion of the stock can be placed in it.
Keep in mind that marijuana plants or plants in general are very delicate and marijuana plants at this stage are even more delicate, so be careful when transplanting the plant. With the intended pot and its hole dug ready and at your side squeeze the sides of the party cup to loosen the soil within it. Carefully turn the party cup over in your hands so that the plant and the compacted soil around it slide out. Once this happens, take the plant and hold it upright and gently scrape the excess soil off of the roots of the plant. Sometimes the clone bought from the dispensary will be placed in a soil substitute such as Rockwool or perlite, if this is the case these too are easy to wipe away from the roots.
Makes sure however that any soil substitute is entirely wiped away from the roots as this will not be needed once the plant is in its new container. Once the plant and its roots have been placed into the new container gently bury soil around it making so that it is firm and can stand on its own. It is recommended to immediately water the plant after this however feeding the plant nutrients at this point is optional. After this it is only a matter of time before the plant begins to thrive in its new container and flourishes while in the vegetation stage.
